Members of our Portishead team recently lent a helping hand to South Western Housing Society, contributing to their new ‘Giving Back Day’ project. The initiative, which encourages members of SWHS staff to come together and assist in a local community project in aid of their customers, was the first one of its kind to be carried out by the housing association.

Over 10 members of SWHS staff painted and cleaned the sleeping quarters along with the help of our operatives, brothers, Colin and Paul Seagrove.

JBG Contracts Manager, Richard Penny, who also attended to assist, commented;

“It was great to be involved in this project. Having developed a good relationship with the client following the refurbishments of a number of kitchen and bathrooms we were excited to contribute to such a worthwhile endeavour.

Giving the Night Assessment Centre a much needed makeover was not only hugely important to those members of the community who rely on the facility for shelter whilst they transition into permanent housing but also to the members of SWHS staff who were able to see first-hand the positive impact that their work makes.  We were pleased to not only get to know our clients and other contractors, who also helped out, but also meet some of the people who use the facility and understand how important it is to them. We have already offered to assist again in any future projects.”

Neil Buckland, Asset Manager for SWHS who helped to arrange the day said “The Giving Back Day project was the first of its kind for the Society, which was a great success and very much appreciated by the Night Assessment Centre”.
